She pursued her love of the arts at <span class="bold">Virginia Commonwealth University</span> in Costume Design, receiving formal and practical training in everything from millinery and mask-making, to jewelry design and textiles. As a student, she worked all over the country as a crafts artisan for theater and film, including <span class="bold">the Utah Shakespearean Festival in Cedar City, Utah</span> and <span class="bold">the HBO mini-series, John Adams.</span> </p> <p> Upon receiving a BFA, Mckinsey started to build the foundation for her own design company while working as a <span class="bold">Fashion Consultant at the Frances Kahn Women’s Boutique</span> in Richmond, Virginia. She drew on her extensive knowledge of costume design and natural flair for fashion to create dynamic, high-end wardrobes for her clients.
